{"id":12457,"date":"2026-06-02T21:33:03","date_gmt":"2026-06-02T19:33:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.geodiscoverytours.com\/reiseberichte\/india-bhutan-nepal-a-fantastic-25-day-trip\/"},"modified":"2026-06-02T21:33:03","modified_gmt":"2026-06-02T19:33:03","slug":"india-bhutan-nepal-a-fantastic-25-day-trip","status":"publish","type":"travel_report","link":"https:\/\/www.geodiscoverytours.com\/en\/reiseberichte\/india-bhutan-nepal-a-fantastic-25-day-trip\/","title":{"rendered":"India, Bhutan &#038; Nepal &#8211; a fantastic 25-day trip"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We were looking for an individual trip to Bhutan and Mrs. Kolay designed and organised this trip in combination with India and Nepal perfectly for us.<br>Since there is no direct flight to Bhutan, we decided on the outbound flight via India and the return flight from Nepal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just sightseeing in Delhi was too little for us, and so we made an &#8220;excursion&#8221; to the highlights of Fatehpur Sikri and the very impressive Taj Mahal &#8211; both definitely worth seeing. After 5 days in hectic and loud India with lots of people, we continued to Bhutan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Already upon arrival at the airport and being received by our guide and driver, we felt as if we were in another &#8211; happy &#8211; world. Calm, beaming people, no rush, clear air&#8230; we were welcomed everywhere as welcome guests and never felt like tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our 11-day trip through Bhutan took us from Paro to Thimphu, Punakha and Trongsa to Bumthang and back with a stay in Gangtey. With every monastery visit we immersed ourselves more into Buddhism, which our guide explained to us very well and vividly. He also answered all our questions, brought us directly into contact with the monks and made sure we were always blessed with holy water. The temples, monasteries and fortresses are very impressive buildings with wonderful paintings and ornaments. Over lunch in farmhouses, that is, with Bhutanese families, we got to know the way of life. Nature is fantastic and largely untouched. The Tiger&#8217;s Nest was on our programme as the highlight on the second-to-last day, and it was simply fascinating to see how a monastery can be built like that into the rocks at 3,100 m altitude. Bhutan deeply moved and impressed us. We can really warmly recommend a trip to Bhutan to anyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The flight to Nepal was fantastic, because under a brilliant blue sky, the entire Himalayan mountain range showed itself to us &#8211; Mrs. Kolay had reserved the perfect seats for us. During our 9-day stay we were in Kathmandu, Pharping and Bhaktapur and, besides sightseeing, undertook a few hikes. Particularly impressive for us was the 3-day stay at a Buddhist monastery (hotel within the monastery complex), where we could immerse ourselves into the daily routine of the monks and were also allowed to take part in several ceremonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mrs. Kolay regularly travels the countries herself, is in close contact with the local agencies and looks at the hotels she offers. The guides and drivers of the local agencies were very good and reliable; they fulfilled all our wishes.
