We had no blisters on our feet, no diarrhoea or other impairments. The food was consistently okay. When you are out and about in the huts in the Alps there are some where you look forward to the food and some where you say you don&#8217;t have to eat there anymore. Our porter had a good knack and the local experience for this, so that we could rely on him when it came to food.\r\n\r\nHe was also good at the short-term weather forecasts. We were always just able to dodge the heavy rain, hail and snow.\r\nYes, the weather is a topic in its own right; in any case we were lucky. When the visibility was supposed to be good, it was also good. You can have bad luck with that.\r\nThe tour itself was such that we managed to undercut the planned times even at a rather slow but break-light pace and with many photo stops.\r\n\r\nWeather-wise we skipped the overnight stay at ABC, which also eased the following days somewhat. In return we had a great sunrise and a blue sky and in the evening the heavy rain mentioned above, which we managed to dodge that way.\r\n\r\nMy wife doesn&#8217;t speak of a holiday but of a journey, and she&#8217;s right about that. Physically it was already very strenuous, but didn&#8217;t go beyond the limits. You also shouldn&#8217;t speak of Annapurna Trekking but of Annapurna Stepping. It wasn&#8217;t recovery for the body, but for the mind.\r\n\r\nOur tour guide is an intelligent, humorous, respectful person, who could shine with his knowledge and his outstanding command of German. When someone masters irony and sarcasm in a foreign language, it can hardly be better. So you could communicate excellently with him beyond cultural borders. Unfortunately this didn&#8217;t work as well with our porter, who always had a friendly smile on his face and looked forward to a high-five after the day or section. Porter and guide were a well-rehearsed team, although it was their first joint tour &#8211; just pros!\r\n\r\nDid we dislike anything? We can&#8217;t think of anything!\r\n\r\nPoon Hill could have been left out, since we had the same view 2 hours later anyway. Two half rest days wouldn&#8217;t have been bad, although we did grant those to ourselves at MBC and ABC due to the weather.\r\n\r\nWe met the group of a German budget discounter on the way. 30 people and 15 porters and 6 guides plus cook and tent crew wouldn&#8217;t have been our thing. We were just the two of us. 6 people is perhaps the ideal number, plus 3 porters and 1 guide.\r\n\r\nWe extended in Pokhara for 1 day and in Kathmandu for 2 days, so we could undertake something ourselves, which after the perfect care from the local team in Pokhara and Kathmandu was also a change.\r\n\r\nMaybe I&#8217;ll follow the advice of my doctor and tackle the Everest Base Camp next year.
