{"id":12538,"date":"2026-06-02T21:35:26","date_gmt":"2026-06-02T19:35:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.geodiscoverytours.com\/reiseberichte\/what-a-trip-what-colours-and-inspirations\/"},"modified":"2026-06-02T21:35:26","modified_gmt":"2026-06-02T19:35:26","slug":"what-a-trip-what-colours-and-inspirations","status":"publish","type":"travel_report","link":"https:\/\/www.geodiscoverytours.com\/en\/reiseberichte\/what-a-trip-what-colours-and-inspirations\/","title":{"rendered":"What a trip, what colours and inspirations!!"},"content":{"rendered":"NEPAL &#8211; UPPER MUSTANG &#8211; THE FORGOTTEN KINGDOM\r\n\r\nA long-cherished dream came true when we happened to come across geoDiscovery Tours.\r\nEven after the first conversations with Ms. Kolay, we felt very well advised and immediately decided\r\nto travel with geoDiscovery Tours to the &#8220;mystical forgotten kingdom of Upper Mustang&#8221;.\r\nSince this was our first trekking tour to Nepal, of course there were many questions, which were always answered\r\nvery attentively and in detail.\r\nA warm welcome in Kathmandu, the lovely hotel, the exciting and highly interesting\r\nsightseeing tour delighted us right from the start of this trip.\r\nAfter spectacular domestic flights, we started our trek through the Kali Gandaki Valley, the deepest\r\nvalley on earth, framed by magnificent sandstone massifs. Thanks to the slow increase in altitude\r\nwe could acclimatise wonderfully and had no problems at all with the\r\nadjustment to altitude! Our guide Laxman fulfilled all wishes, and our porter Dependra carried\r\nour luggage almost effortlessly and always in good spirits, up and down\u2026\r\nWe passed pretty little villages with their beautiful ch\u00f6rten, the deep faith of the people visible at every step\r\nthrough their prayer wheels. We were overwhelmed by the\r\nBuddhist influences along the way, with small prayer sites and prayer flags everywhere. Through the\r\nsimple way of life of the villagers, we felt transported back to the previous century.\r\nEach day was marked by fabulous views of the rocky landscapes, from desert-like barren to\r\ndeep red canyon-like gorges. Trained by the constant up- and downhill walking, we tackled\r\nthe 3,950 m high Nyi La Pass almost effortlessly &#8211; what a mountain panorama!\r\nMystical moments and an almost spiritual aura we experienced at the long Mani Wall in Chemi,\r\nthe slowly decaying ch\u00f6rten nearby clearly showed the transience of earthly things.\r\nAlso the unstoppably crumbling, once-beautiful summer palace of the king in Tsarang\r\npoints to a once-prosperous culture.
