Annapurna Comfort-Lodge-Trekking

Nepal Nepal

Trekking Map

Our Annapurna Comfort Trek is designed for those who want to approach the mighty giants of the Nepal-Himalayas in a more comfortable way.

The differences in altitude, the unusual geography and the pleasant climate make trekking in the Annapurna region the dream of every real nature, comfort and mountain lover. You hike for 7 days through the foothills of the Annapurna with a daily walk of about 5 hours.

The Ker and Downey Lodges offer you the highest level of service during the tour. Fantastic views of the ice giants, manicured landscapes and gardens, cosy lounges and bedrooms with hot showers and western toilets are the special features of these accommodations.

The path between the lodges takes you through beautiful Nepalese villages with spectacular views of the Annapurna region. On this trip you will learn a lot about the Gurung culture in the villages and at the same time enjoy unique mountain views.

You end your trip with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage City of Bhaktapur and a free day in Kathmandu.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu – Introduction and welcome dinner
You will be picked up at the airport and driven to your hotel. In the afternoon we will explain the details of the trip with you, and in the evening you are invited to the welcome dinner. Overnight at the Shangri La or Hotel Shanker, (D).

Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu
Today we explore Kathmandu with a local guide. This day can be designed flexibly according to your wishes. The most popular places and most impressive sights include Pashupatinath – a Hindu temple with cremation places, Swayambhunath – also known as the monkey temple – and the Boudhanath Stupa. After the sightseeing tour you will come back to the hotel in the late afternoon and pack up the equipment for the trek the next morning. You can also leave a bag at the hotel with items you won’t need on the tour. The rest of the day is then at leisure . Overnight at Hotel Shanker or Shangri La, (B).

Day 3: Flight to Pokhara (820m)
The transfer to the airport takes place very early in the morning. Then we start the flight to Pokhara. On a clear day, this flight offers you a wonderful view of the Annapurna massif. After landing in Pokhara, you will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore Pokhara or relax by the pool. Overnight at the Fish Tail Lodge or the Temple Tree Resort, (B).

Day 4: Trek to the Sanctuary Lodge, Birethanti (1,100m) – 3 hours hike
We travel about an hour from Pokhara along Seti Khola to the starting point of the hike. The path follows a ridge in the lower foothills of the Annapurna. On this part of the route, beautiful views of the mountains and the Pokhara Valley will be our constant companions. The route now falls down into Modital and leads alternately through bamboo forests and cultivated fields. The Sanctuary Lodge, enthroned above the Modi Khola, is a few kilometres from Birethani. The lodge is a typical Ker & Downey establishment with a cosy living room, dining room and lovely gardens. After lunch, the afternoon is free at the hut to explore the area or relax in the gardens (B|L|D).

Day 5: Trek to the Himalaya Lodge, Ghandrug (2,012m) – 5 to 6 hours hike
After breakfast we climb to the village of Ghandrug. The path passes further terraces, agricultural areas and leads through rhododendron and oak forests. After 3 hours we reach Kimche (1,554m), where we pause for lunch. Then we continue the ascent to Ghandrug. The Himalaya Hut consists of a village house built in the 19th century with a pleasant reception area, a dining room and an open fireplace (B|L|D).

Day 6: Day trip from the Himalaya Lodge to Ghandrug – approx. 3 hours
Today we explore Ghandrug and the surrounding region. From here, breathtaking views of the Annapurna south face and the Machapuchare await us. Especially at sunrise and sunset the view is simply fantastic. The village still retains the traditional architectural style of its stone-roofed houses. If you want, you can also visit the village museum or just take a walk in the village (B|L|D).

Day 7: Trek to Gurung Lodge in Majgaun (1,400m) – 5 to 6 hours hike
Today the trail descends on the route to Annapurna Sanctuary, and after a few hours we arrive at Shauli Bazaar. From here we follow the Modi Khola to the cable bridge, which we crossed on the first day. It now goes two hours up the valley to the village of Majgaun and the Gurung hut (B|L|D).

Day 8: Trek to Basanta Lodge, Dhampus (1,554m) – 3 to 4 hours hike
After breakfast we start the hike through oak, rhododendron and white birch forests, with once again impressive views of the Annapurna south face, Hiunchuli and Lamjung. We walk leisurely on an easy-to-walk path to the village of Pothana. From here it only goes down the valley to Dhampus, (B|L|D).

Day 9: Trek to Astam Kot – Japanese hut (1,400 m) – 3 hours walking time
We start the easy and gradual descent to Astamkot. This is one of the most beautiful sections of the route because we will have great views of the Machapuchare peak during the hike. We spend the night in a Japanese mountain hut called ‘Hana no ei’, which means ‘the house of flowers’. From the window of your room and from the breakfast area you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Machapuchare and Annapurna massifs. In the village of Astam Kot, which is about 300m above the accommodation, you can feel the real and original life of the local people. The village is inhabited by Brahmins and members of the Chhetri caste. Overnight at the Hana no ei Lodge, (B|L|D).

Day 10: Short hike and drive to Pokhara (820m) – 2 hours walk
After a good breakfast, we set out on the approximately two-hour ascent to Milan Chok, from where we drive to Pokhara in our vehicle. Overnight at Fishtail Lodge or Temple Tree Resort, (B).

Day 11: Flight to Kathmandu and drive to Bhaktapur
You will be picked up at the airport and driven to the Heritage House Hotel in Bhaktapur. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at the Hotel Heritage in Bhaktapur or similar category, (B).

Day 12: Bhaktapur Sightseeing – Afternoon free time
Bhaktapur is a very old former royal city in the eastern part of the Kathmandu Valley, inhabited by the Newari ethnic group, a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its rich culture, its temples and its wood, metal and stone works of art. The many must-see sights include Layaku (Durbar Square), Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Nyatapola Temple, Bhairab Nath Temple and the Dattatraya Temple. The afternoon is at your disposal. Overnight at Hotel Heritage in Bhaktapur, (B).

Day 13: Drive to Kathmandu – Afternoon relaxation massage
After breakfast and routine morning activities, you will be driven to Kathmandu. In the afternoon you will receive a well-deserved 1 ½ hour relaxing massage. Overnight at Hotel Shangri La or Hotel Shanker, (B).

Day 14: Flight back home.
Farewell and transfer to Kathmandu Airport. Flight back home. End of the journey, (F).

We reserve the right to make program changes due to special events, force majeure or weather reasons.

The fees can also be paid in euros, which are converted by the bank at the airport in accordance with the dollar exchange rate. Two passport size photographs must be provided for the visa. Insurance
Travel health insurance (with recovery costs) is essential for your own safety and a precondition for participation in our trips. In the event of an accident in the mountains which requires a helicopter rescue, the helicopter will not take off before the responsibility for the cost is clarified.
The conclusion of travel cancellation insurance is highly recommended. In the case of bargain price flights in particular, changes or cancellations generally can’t be made free of charge. In Nepal complications with the weather or with your health could make it necessary to break off your journey.
We have requested ERGO (Reiseversicherung ) to create various service packages for you. You can book travel health insurance at https://www.reiseversicherung.de/vrv/partner/ep-Assistent.html?/data/agent/hagtnr=027256&/data/agent/nagtnr=000000.

Tour program
The travel program for all of our recommended tours is carefully planned. It can happen, however, that roads are closed without advance notice or are impassable, that there are waiting times of several hours because of traffic congestion or fuel shortages and that specific tourist attractions are closed for various reasons. Other restrictions such as flight delays or even cancellations due to bad weather, strikes, the health of participants or unfavorable conditions while trekking may also make the implementation of the travel program more difficult or at worst make it impossible. However, our local guides are prepared for such situations and will make every effort to achieve every aspect of the program to your satisfaction. As a result the inconvenience can normally be kept to a reasonable level. Nevertheless, it must be pointed out at this juncture that for the above reasons program changes are possible at any time and cannot be influenced by the organizers. The resulting costs are borne by the traveler. We ask for your understanding.
