Finally, explore the rich wildlife of Chitwan National Park, where you can spot exotic birds, rhinos and other wildlife in their natural habitat. Look forward to boat trips, elephant encounters and unforgettable safari experiences before finally returning to Kathmandu.
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m) – introduction to the trip and welcome dinner
When you arrive in Kathmandu (1,400 m), you will be picked up at the airport and taken to your hotel. In the late afternoon we will discuss the trip with you, and in the evening you are cordially invited to the welcome dinner. Overnight stay at Hotel Kathmandu Guest House or in a similar category, (D).
Day 2: Exploring Kathmandu and afternoon free time
On the second day, a visit to Kathmandu is on the agenda, accompanied by a local guide. Highlights include visits to the Hindu Pashupatinath Temple and its cremation sites, the Swayambhunath Temple (also known as the Monkey Temple), the Boudhanath Stupa, Durbar Square, and Kathmandu’s lively Thamel tourist center. Overnight stay at Hotel Kathmandu Guest House or in a similar category, (B).
Day 3: Flight to Pokhara – sightseeing
On the third day, you will be transferred to the airport very early in the morning to take the flight to Pokhara. If the weather is clear, this flight offers wonderful views of the Annapurna massif. After landing in Pokhara you will be transferred to your hotel. Pokhara, also known as Lake District, is one of the most beautiful places in Nepal and a popular tourist destination. The valley is home to numerous lakes with impressive views of the majestic Annapurna massif. Pokhara offers a variety of activities such as trekking in the Annapurna region, rafting, paragliding, bird watching, microlight flights and mountain biking. Attractions include Phewa, Bagnas and Rupa Lakes, Mountain Museum, Barahi Temple, Mahendra Gupha, Devins Waterfall, World Peace Pagoda and Pokhara Old Bazaar. The locals in this area mainly belong to the Gurung and Magar ethnic groups. Overnight stay at Hotel Mt. Kailash Resort or in a similar accommodation category, (B).
Day 4: Drive to Lumre and hike to Kalimati (1,900 m) – approx. 3 hours hike
After a drive of about an hour, we reach the starting point of our hike, which takes us through a picturesque hilly landscape with lush flora until we reach Kalimati. Kalimati is an idyllic place, inhabited mainly by the Brahmin ethnic group. With a bit of luck we can catch a glimpse of Mt. Machapuchare (6,997) from the lodge. Overnight stay at the ECO Lodge, (B|L|D).
Day 5: Hike to Lwang (1,400 m) – 3 to 4 hours hike
The road to Lwang takes you through beautiful cardamom fields with gentle climbs and descents. The residents of this village belong to the Gurung ethnic group and know how to maintain their culture. Overnight stay at the ECO Lodge, (B|L|D).
Day 6: Hike through the tea plantations and drive to Lake Begnas (650 m) – approx. 1 hour hike and 2 hour drive
From Lwang we climb uphill for about 30 minutes to visit the beautiful tea plantations of this region. We continue hiking through oak forests, rhododendrons and white birch trees, which again offer us incredible views of the south face of Annapurna, Hiunchuli and Lamjung, until we reach our previously organized jeep that will take us back to Pokhara. Overnight stay at Begnas Lake Resort, (B).
Day 7: Morning yoga and relaxation at Lake Begnassee
The Begnassee Resort & Villas in Nepal is a stylish gem with its own Ayurvedic center in the middle of the spectacular Himalayan region. The snow-capped mountain backdrop, lush vegetation, rice fields and crystal-clear rivers form the unique backdrop of the resort in a quiet hillside location on the southern bank of Lake Begnas. The clear water of the lake fascinates with its multi-faceted reflections at any time of day. Begnas is above all a place of reflection and relaxation – for both healing and non-healing guests. Overnight stay at Begnas Lake Resort, (B).
Day 8: Drive to Bandipur and afternoon walk around the village – Approximately 3 hours drive
After breakfast we drive to Bandipur. This small village sits on a ridge between Kathmandu and Pokhara and offers beautiful views of the Himalayan peaks to the north, including Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Ganesh Himal. Bandipur has been carefully adapted for tourism. As a result, some of the old houses were carefully converted into hotels. Compared to the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu, Bandipur is a very peaceful and rather quiet place as no vehicles are allowed in the city center. Overnight stay in the Hotel Old Inn or similar category, (B).
Day 9: Drive to Chitwan National Park – 4 hours drive
Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984, Chitwan National Park is an impressive natural paradise in Nepal. This park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including more than 500 Asian rhinos, which roam majestically through the overgrown grasslands of the surrounding wetlands. The park is also home to a stable population of Bengal tigers, which skillfully hunt their prey in the dense jungle – a sight full of excitement and fascination. After arriving in Chitwan National Park and enjoying a delicious lunch, you will have the opportunity to visit a village of the Tharu ethnic group. The Tharu are an indigenous community native to the region and have a fascinating culture and way of life.
The rest of the afternoon is free to further explore the beauty and diversity of Chitwan National Park and have unforgettable experiences in this breathtaking environment. Overnight stay at Machan Wildlife Resort or similar, (B|L|D).
Day 10: In Chitwan National Park
At sunrise we take a boat trip on the river to experience the beauty of the surroundings in the early hours of the morning. During the boat trip on one of the calmly flowing watercourses, our guide will always point out colorful birds or crocodiles, so that you are guaranteed not to miss out on extraordinary photo opportunities. Later in the day we visit the elephant breeding center, where you can gain insights into the raising and care of these majestic animals. Additionally, during the day you will also go on an exciting game drive through the park to experience the fascinating wildlife of the Chitwan National Park up close and have unforgettable safari experiences. Overnight stay at Machan Wildlife Resort or similar, (B|L|D).
Day 11: Drive Chitwan National Park – Pharping – approx. 7 hours drive
Before we return to Kathmandu, you have the choice of another early morning game drive to observe the wildlife of Chitwan National Park in the morning silence or another river cruise to enjoy the picturesque landscape from a different perspective . Afterwards we drive to Kathmandu/Pharping. The journey is very varied due to the variety of landscapes, but a bit bumpy due to the road conditions.
If you prefer a flight, we can arrange this at an additional cost. Overnight stay at Neydo Guest House or a similar category (B|D).
Day 12: Day in Pharping, sightseeing and easy hike
Today we start early at 5:00 a.m. First we listen to the morning chants of the monks. After breakfast we can go on an easy hike and visit the other monasteries. Pharping is a culturally thriving Newari town associated with the holy site of Hinduism and Buddhism where Guru Rimpoche (Padmasambhava, known as the lotus-born god) attained Mahamudra Vidyadhara status. This village is famous for numerous religious Buddhist monasteries, Bajra Yogini Temple, Gorakhnath Temple and Guru Padmasambhava Meditation Cave. It is believed that he achieved enlightenment in the Asur Cave. Recently, numerous Buddhist monasteries have been built in the area. Overnight stay at Neydo Monastery Inn, (B|D).
Day 13: Drive to Bhaktapur and sightseeing and drive to Kathmandu
Bhaktapur, also known as the City of the Pious, still retains its medieval charm and visitors to this ancient royal city will be amazed by countless cultural and artistic secrets. The palace courtyard (Durbar Square) bears witness to the past splendor of the Malla dynasty. Pottery and weaving are the two traditional crafts in Bhaktapur. Besides, Bhaktapur is famous for its wood carvings and Bhadgaolen hat or Bhadgaolen cap (the old name of Bhaktapur is Bhadgaolen). Bhaktapur’s cultural treasures include well-preserved temples, palaces and buildings from the Malla Dynasty period. Visitors can admire the impressive architecture and ornate carvings that reflect the history and traditions of this city. Bhaktapur’s crafts, including pottery, weaving and wood carving, are an important part of the city’s cultural heritage and attract art lovers from around the world. Additionally, Bhaktapur offers a rich culinary diversity with local specialties that tantalize the taste buds of visitors. The city’s traditional Nepalese cuisine is known for its diversity and authenticity. During your stay in Bhaktapur, be sure to try local delicacies such as juju dhau (yogurt) and chatamari (a type of rice crepe) to discover the culinary delights of the region. In the afternoon we drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight stay at Hotel Kathmandu Guest House or a similar category, (B).

Today it is time to leave Nepal with all its treasures and experiences. After a warm farewell and a transfer to the airport in Kathmandu, the journey home begins. The journey may be over, but the memories of the fascinating culture, the breathtaking landscape and the warm encounters will last forever. A farewell with a smile on your face and the knowledge that Nepal will always be a piece of your heart, (B).

Visa
Your visa can be issued on arrival at a counter at Kathmandu airport. Visa costs on arriving in Kathmandu amount to US $ 50 (stay of up to 30 days) and US $ 125 (stay of up to 90 days).
The fees can also be paid in euros, which are converted by the bank at the airport in accordance with the dollar exchange rate. Two passport size photographs must be provided for the visa. At the time of the trip your passport must be valid for at least a further six months and have at least one blank page.
These visa and passport regulations apply to EU countries, Switzerland and the USA. Other nationals should check with the relevant consular authorities.
Insurance
Travel health insurance (with recovery costs) is essential for your own safety and a precondition for participation in our trips. In the event of an accident in the mountains which requires a helicopter rescue, the helicopter will not take off before the responsibility for the cost is clarified.
The conclusion of travel cancellation insurance is highly recommended. In the case of bargain price flights in particular, changes or cancellations generally can’t be made free of charge. In Nepal complications with the weather or with your health could make it necessary to break off your journey.
We have requested ERGO (Reiseversicherung) to create various service packages for you. You can book travel health insurance at www.reiseversicherung.de.
Please note: ERGO insurance can be booked by residents of Germany and Austria. Those living in other countries are requested to book their travel insurance through an insurance provider in their own country.
It should be noted that geoDiscovery Tours advises its customers to book their travel insurance via ERGO as a recommendation only, and accepts no responsibility for the contractual content between the customer and the travel insurance provider. Customers can book their travel insurance via ERGO or another provider at their own discretion.
The hotels and lodges booked by us
In Kathmandu and Pokhara the hotels we book are good and correspond to medium-level Western standards. Sanitary facilities are clean and functional; the hotel cuisine is adapted to Western eating habits and the food is safe to enjoy. There may sometimes be power cuts, or no hot water may be available for a while. The hotel staff is generally very friendly and looks after the welfare of guests. The hotels booked by us are as follows:
Kathmandu: Hotel Tibet/Kathmandu Guest House***+
Pokhara: Mount Kailash Resort, Lake side retreat ***
Palpa/Tansen: Hotel Srinagar **
Bandipur: Hotel Inn ***
Chitwan: Jungle Villa Resort/Machan Wildlife
Nagarkot: Nagarkot Farmhouse
Bhaktapur: Bhaktapur Heritage House
During the trek and in the interior of the country conditions are very varied, and travelers must sometimes expect basic sanitation facilities. For standard treks and tours you will stay overnight in typical “lodges” (teahouses). These usually offer very small single rooms or double rooms (some with no running water and no private shower / toilet).
In general, during the trekking tour you can select what you wish to eat from the menu. However, at altitudes of 4,000 meters it can happen that on some routes the choice of food is not very extensive. Typical Nepalese cuisine is mostly vegetarian, but very tasty, filling and wholesome. Travelers need to be adaptable, however.
Flying in Nepal
The domestic flights booked by us are with Tara Air, Yeti Air, Sita Air, Summit Air or Buddha Air.
Tour program
The travel program for all of our recommended tours is carefully planned. It can happen, however, that roads are closed without advance notice or are impassable, that there are waiting times of several hours because of traffic congestion or fuel shortages and that specific tourist attractions are closed for various reasons. Other restrictions such as flight delays or even cancellations due to bad weather, strikes, the health of participants or unfavorable conditions while trekking may also make the implementation of the travel program more difficult or at worst make it impossible. However, our local guides are prepared for such situations and will make every effort to achieve every aspect of the program to your satisfaction. As a result the inconvenience can normally be kept to a reasonable level. Nevertheless, it must be pointed out at this juncture that for the above reasons program changes are possible at any time and cannot be influenced by the organizers. The resulting costs are borne by the traveler. We ask for your understanding.
