Tihar Festival in Nepal
Tihar, the second largest Nepalese festival, was celebrated in Nepal in early November, with many colors. It is the Festival of Lights & Colors and lasts for 5 days. We were there live.
The festival is of great importance as it shows reverence to not just the humans and the gods, but also the animals such as crow, cows and dogs that maintain an intimate relationship with the people. People paint/make colored patterns (rainbow colors) on the floor of living room or courtyards to welcome the gods and goddesses of Hinduism, mainly the goddess Laxmi.
