We decided relatively spontaneously to do a different kind of holiday and wanted to see a completely different part of the earth. By chance we became aware of GeoDiscovery Tours and were provided with lots of info both beforehand and during our trip, and all our questions and concerns were answered and resolved quickly and in detail. In Nepal everything ran completely smoothly from all transfers to the hotel and sightseeing. We spent the first day with sightseeing in Kathmandu. Looking out over the city from the Monkey Temple is unique. The trekking itself was a great experience, starting with the flight to Lukla and the first views of the Himalaya, up to the ascent to Kala Patthar to enjoy the Everest panorama. Our guide led us through impressive landscapes. We started with views of dense trees and green forests and got closer to our goal day by day. From trees came bushes, from bushes came grasses and moss, all the way to the Everest Base Camp, consisting of ice and rubble. We were rewarded with a clear, deep blue sky at over 4,000 and 5,000 metres, let yak herds pass and listened to their bells, and were really able to switch off. Our guide could tell us a lot about the country and the people, left the pace to us and always took care of our wellbeing. The accommodations were simple but completely sufficient, and cosiness always settled in when the stove in the restaurant was fired up and you could review the day over tea and cards. Or look forward to the next day’s stage.Nepal really impressed us with its landscape, the bustling Kathmandu and its very kind people. Of the big earthquake in 2015 there are only scattered traces left in Kathmandu, on the trek we did not experience any restrictions because of it. We will remember this trip fondly for a very long time and thank GeoDiscovery Tours for the great organisation!
