Out of the German everyday stress and off to the long-awaited trip to the country of Nepal.
Upon arrival at the airport in Kathmandu, we were welcomed by two friendly tour guides and taken to a hotel in a classic Tibetan style.
Everything was very exciting and after a short breather we plunged into Nepalese life in Kathmandu.
After our short sightseeing trip, we were invited to dinner at a typical Nepalese restaurant by the travel agency.
Mingmar, the head of the German-Nepalese travel agency, welcomed us that evening with great friendliness. Aman, our very attentive and landscape-knowledgeable mountain guide, was also there. Over a sociable, delicious and traditional meal, all the details for the next day and the further course of our wonderful and unforgettable trip were discussed in detail….
At the start there was a city tour in Kathmandu, a visit to the Monkey Temple, a visit to the Manakamana Temple and an overnight stay in the mountain village of Bandipur on the sightseeing list before the trekking tour. These events alone left us with so many positive and impressive emotions, that we also got the chance to gain a small insight into and access to the Nepalese mentality, traditions and people.
The next day, having arrived in Pokhara, we prepared for the longed-for and exciting trekking tour. After a short car ride towards the mountains, the porters strapped their loads onto forehead and back, and we tourists, with a slight feeling of excitement, set off with the mountain guide with the goal
“Mardi Himal, we are coming to you”
The excitement grew from camp to camp;
Deurali, Forest Camp, Low Camp. After each day’s stage we were exhausted, but ultimately so satisfied to have completed the stages, and somehow we got more and more energised by it.
Along the way we could see, touch and smell the beautiful forests with their fantastically growing trees, completely overgrown with moss from which white orchid blossoms grew. We felt as if we were in a fairy-tale forest.
We tackled the last stage in hazy visibility, the fog had spread.
Once we arrived at High Camp, we were all in a slight euphoria, happy to have finally reached the goal despite poor visibility. After an appetising bite to eat, many exciting conversations with people from all over the world who had also arrived at High Camp, we slept deeply and soundly.
The next morning at 6.00 in the early hours, voices were buzzing outside, people were walking around, which of course made us curious too, prompted us to get up and also go outside,
wonderful and unforgettable….
During the night fresh snow had fallen, the landscape was white, glittering. The first mountain peaks, which had not been visible the day before, stretched out and we all waited for the unforgettable moment of sunrise. A gigantic expanse of the mountain range was to be seen, slowly the first rays of sun let the mountain peaks soar golden-glittering against the SKY. It enchanted everyone who lingered there in this moment and for a brief window of time we let ourselves be inspired by a cosmic here and now…..
We sincerely thank the strong porters, the patient and attentive mountain guides, the German travel agency geoDiscovery Tours and the German-Nepalese travel company for the wonderful and unforgettable trip.
Since we have been back in Germany, the mountains have been calling us, we will come back….
