From the very beginning, through the special care of Mrs. Kolay, who really always answered all questions and flexibly addressed all our wishes, we felt almost like family. Answers came promptly and the anticipation for this very special trip grew with every day!
In Kathmandu itself, everything went so smoothly as if we were the only guests. Even when the trip had to be rearranged due to bad weather in Lukla, we were involved on site with our guide and a new route was worked out for us. I have made many trips, but I have never experienced it so attentively and professionally. A thousand thanks for the extraordinary care and almost family-like communication!! You made us happy beyond our wishes!
The route was dreamily fascinating and impressive from the very first day! Beforehand in Kathmandu our guide had checked our equipment with us and given us superb advice on buying the last few items in Thamel. Brilliant, that way we were perfectly prepared for the challenge. 5400 m were already something special for us as North Germans! At all times the guide and Sherpas were supportive on the route together with us: the helping hand at waterfalls that we crossed, the question about a cup of tea or the health advice regarding the high altitudes. A super competent team!! We were always given the time we needed. The dwelling in the Annapurna region and the relaxedness of our team contributed lastingly to a very deep relaxation and slowing down in clear air with brilliant blue skies and white mountains. The longing is already growing again – and it will not be the last trip to Nepal with geoDiscovery Tours.
In our accommodations during the trekking we got to know the country’s typical simplicity and focus on the essentials. Our hosts invited us for tea in the kitchen, chatted with us and always gave us a feeling of warm welcome. Our guide also contributed to this, willingly translating the occasional chat. The delicious food strengthened us and with great appetite we tried not only dhal bat but also other delicacies of Nepalese cuisine.
That way we immersed ourselves deeply in the life of Nepal, rounded off by cultural highlights in Kathmandu, Patan, Bhaktapur and Pokhara with very knowledgeable city guides. Their friendly smiles remain unforgettable to us.
The memory of this time brings a smile to our faces and lets us feel the deep peace of the country and its people. Namaste!
