The trekking tour was well chosen. On the way out we were totally surprised at how heavily walked the Mount Everest Base Camp route is. The return through a quiet side valley, which is walked by very few tourists, was then very relaxing.
Since my husband and I had strong problems breathing at altitude, we unfortunately could not do the Island Peak climb. However the journey was the reward and the indescribable, breathtaking views we had every day still made the trekking tour a successful trip. The care from 2 to 3 experienced guides was absolutely professional and we felt well looked after.
There were lodges among them that were very cosy, absolutely clean and very kindly run by their owners. However there are also various lodges that view the trekkers as a cash machine and unfortunately only charge extra for everything and barely provide service or cleanliness. Some lodge operators still have a lot to learn here and the operators have to be put under the obligation to change these miserable standards via the lodge owners.
