Nepal – most people associate it with the roof of the world, which culminates in Mount Everest.
But Nepal has much more to offer – as we were able to experience first hand on our trekking tour on the Annapurna Circuit. Numerous impressive waterfalls line the route, thundering down steep cliffs. Accompanied by these masses of water, you can practically let your gaze wander over the mountains the whole time. Gigantic rock massifs rise above the green, jungle-like forests or ochre-coloured steppes and seem almost surreal – like sublime deities. And anyway, the culture of the country lives on religion – we were able to experience the Tihar festival a little for ourselves. We were very taken with the openness and tolerance of the Nepalese towards other religions and cultures.
This was apparent throughout the whole trip – also in the support, starting with the tour leader Arun, through our guide Navaraj to our porter Pemba – all very kind, virtually always with a smile on their lips and very eager to meet our expectations. During the trip you felt almost like a small family. Which didn’t make saying goodbye to Nepal any easier.
