For us, this trekking tour to the “Everest BC and Gokyo Ri” was already our third tour in Nepal with geoDiscovery Tours. Each time we have dared to take on an even more demanding, higher and longer tour, and now we wanted to go to the Everest region as well. But we wanted to go not only to the Everest Base Camp, but also to the most beautiful view of the eight-thousanders, that is, up to Gokyo Ri.
Most people are of course heading towards Everest Base Camp and there are really a great many tourists here. However, after that, especially towards Gokyo, it becomes significantly quieter. We were on the road for 16 days, most of the time at high altitude and in cold, were up above 5500 m, and we found it really extremely strenuous. On the move at altitudes above 5000 m, when the air gets thinner and you are also going steeply upwards, breathing becomes particularly hard and you really only progress very, very slowly, step by step . . . . but wow, what a reward you get for it: it is simply unbelievably beautiful . . . . Nepal, the Himalayas, this magnificent landscape and the people . . . that is something very special.
We will certainly undertake further trips with geoDiscovery Tours. The trip planning was outstanding, unbureaucratic and flexible. The guides and porters were also super friendly and professional. We always felt safe and very well looked after. Many warm thanks for that.
