In March 2025 my sister and I undertook a very special trip: three weeks of culture, colours, history and pure nature – a round trip through India, organised by geoDiscovery Tours. From the very first planning step we felt in excellent hands: our individual wishes were carefully taken into account, which was reflected in the harmonious flow and the excellent selection of accommodation and sights.
Starting in southern India: temple magic in Tamil Nadu
Our trip began in Chennai, the capital of the state of Tamil Nadu. Already on arrival we felt the warm cordiality of the South. The impressive temple complexes, above all the brilliantly colourful temples of Mahabalipuram and Kanchipuram, left us in awe. Every temple told its own story, full of spirituality and centuries-old traditions. The artful stone carvings, the bustling activity of the faithful and the intense atmosphere left lasting impressions.
Kerala: scent of spices, tea hills and tropical beauty
From there the trip took us on to Kerala, “God’s own garden”. Here the picture of India changed completely: lush green, quiet backwaters, endless tea plantations and dreamlike beaches dominated the scene. We were particularly impressed by the spice gardens around Thekkady, where we learned a lot about the cultivation and healing effects of cardamom, pepper and cinnamon. In Munnar we experienced the beauty of the hilly tea region – a real highlight.
Fort Kochi too, with its colonial flair, the Portuguese, Dutch and British influences, was a very special experience. The relaxed atmosphere, the small cafés and the old trading houses invited us to linger.
Northern India: fairy-tale Rajasthan & the Taj Mahal
A domestic flight finally brought us to Udaipur in northern Rajasthan – a city like out of a fairy tale. The palaces, the lakes, the light – Udaipur enchanted us immediately. The drive through Rajasthan took us through a fascinating desert landscape, past fortresses, havelis and historic cities.
The crowning conclusion was, of course, the visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra – a highlight of every India trip. The sight of this architectural masterpiece in the morning sun was simply overwhelming and emotionally moving.
Excellent organisation and unforgettable Holi festival
Throughout the entire trip we were accompanied by an experienced guide and excellent drivers, who not only led us safely and comfortably through the country, but also enabled us to gain deeper insights into Indian culture.
At the end of our trip we were able to experience the colourful Holi festival – a true festival of zest for life! Together with the locals we danced through the streets, colourfully dusted with colours, full of laughter and joy. An emotional, lively conclusion to this impressive trip.
Conclusion
Our trip through India was a thoroughly successful adventure. Thanks to the outstanding planning by geoDiscovery Tours, the variety of impressions and the great support on the ground, it became an unforgettable experience. We returned not only with many photos, but above all with deep impressions and valuable memories.
