At the beginning of April 2023 we had booked the tour to Annapurna Base Camp for two people. Deviating from the actual tour itinerary, we dropped the Muldai Peak from the programme, fearing we would overexert ourselves physically (which in hindsight turned out to be unfounded). This change of plan, as well as a few date shifts, were never a problem on the part of Mrs. Kolay, with whom we were in contact. From the very beginning she always reacted immediately to our enquiries and wishes, and all organisational matters were handled quickly.
On site we were picked up from the airport and taken to the hotel, where we met our guide Navaraj. We learned that for the first two days another couple from Germany would be hiking with us. The two turned out to be nice and open-minded and we had a lot of fun together.
Our tour to ABC was truly fantastic: You start in hill country, walk through the villages of the local population, see their houses, terraced fields and domestic animals and gain an impression of their lives. After three days the ascent up the valley to ABC then begins, where you first walk through jungle-like forest with rhododendron and bamboo, then enter the area of rocks and at the very end the area of snow and ice, always with a view of the mountains (at least in the morning – in the afternoon clouds rolled in). Unfortunately, we had somewhat underestimated the cold, and the common rooms in the lodges are not heated, so you sit at dinner in anorak and hat.
With our guide Navaraj we always felt in good hands. He managed the tour outstandingly, was always there when it came to fulfilling our requests. He also told us a lot along the way about Nepal, the country and its people, which you probably do not read in any guidebook. And our porter Bimba too was a nice and always helpful companion, who also took on organisational tasks and, by his own account, will soon be working as a guide himself.
Lastly, we would like to emphasise once again that we experienced a wonderful, unforgettable holiday with overwhelming scenic impressions. Out of sheer enthusiasm, we are already toying with the idea of venturing on another tour, a bit higher up. On the part of the agency, everything was perfectly organised and we would like to thank you once again warmly for it.
