  • Muldai Peak (approx. 3,637 m) – a quiet viewpoint with a 360° panorama
  • Sweeping Himalayan views of Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri & Machapuchare
  • A short, intensive trek packed with experience
  • Hikes through rhododendron forests and traditional mountain villages
  • Ideal for beginners, leisurely walkers or shorter trips to Nepal

This trek is a unique combination of two of the most beautiful viewpoints in Nepal — the world-famous Poon Hill (3,210 m) and the Muldai Peak (3,637 m), known only to insiders.
This varied trekking route is ideal for anyone who wants to experience Himalayan trekking in a relatively easy form. It offers unforgettable insights into the colourful culture of the Nepalese people, the diverse flora and fauna of the Annapurna region and the majestic beauty of the Himalayan range.

After a guided sightseeing tour of the most important cultural sites in Kathmandu, you travel to Pokhara. From the fourth day, your trekking adventure begins. From mountain village to mountain village you hike along wild rivers, through green terraced fields, past colourful butterflies and through fragrant rhododendron forests. Your constant companions are the snow-capped giants of the Annapurna region — among them Machapuchare (Fishtail, 6,993 m), Annapurna I (8,091 m), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) and many other Himalayan peaks.
A particular highlight is the sunrise at Muldai Peak (3,637 m). From here you enjoy a panoramic view of the Dhaulagiri Range, the Annapurna Range, the Fishtail, the Lamjung Himal (6,983 m) and more than 25 other summits. Equally impressive is the ascent to Poon Hill (3,210 m), where the morning sun bathes the 8,000-, 7,000- and 6,000-metre peaks in golden light — an unforgettable moment of any trip to Nepal.

This panoramic trekking tour combines nature, culture and adventure in perfect harmony and is the ideal choice for anyone who wants to experience the magic of the Himalaya intensely, but on a well-manageable route.

Detailed itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m) – introduction to the trip, equipment check and welcome dinner

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m). You will be picked up at the airport and driven to your hotel. In the afternoon we will discuss the course of the trip with you, and in the evening you are invited to a welcome dinner.
Overnight at Hotel Kathmandu Guest House or an accommodation of equal category (D).

  • Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu (1,400 m) and preparation for the tour

Today we explore Kathmandu with a local guide. Among the most popular places and attractions are the Pashupatinath temple complex — with one of the most important Hindu temples (the main temple is only accessible to Hindus) — the Buddhist-Hindu temple hill Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) and the Buddhist Boudhanath Stupa. In the late afternoon we return to the hotel and pack for the tour the next morning. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight at Hotel Kathmandu Guest House or an accommodation of equal category (B).

  • Day 3: Drive to Pokhara (820 m) – approx. 6–7 hours of driving

Early in the morning we drive to Pokhara. Along the way you can get a sense of life in the picturesque villages of Nepal outside the larger cities. The afternoon is at your leisure. Overnight at Hotel Mount Kailash or an accommodation of equal category (B).

  • Day 4: Drive to Kande (1,710 m) and trek to Tolka (1,700 m) – 1.5 hours driving, 4 hours of hiking, approx. 9 km / +350 m / –360 m

We drive to Kande (1,710 m) to start our trek there. We hike gradually up to Australian Camp, where we take a lunch break after an hour’s walk. Refreshed, we head gently downhill through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali. From Potana we reach Tolka after another easy hour of hiking downhill. Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

  • Day 5: Trek to Ghandruk (1,940 m) – 5 hours of hiking, approx. 10 km / +400 m / –160 m

Via Landrung we descend through the rhododendron forest down to the Modi Khola and begin the ascent to Ghandruk. This village lies beautifully in front of the summits of the southern Annapurna massif and Hiunchuli (6,441 m). The views are especially fantastic at sunrise and sunset. Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

  • Day 6: Trek to Tadapani (2,630 m) – 5 hours of hiking, approx. 8 km / +690 m / –0 m

We hike gradually uphill through pine and rhododendron forests to Tadapani. First we climb many steps from Ghandruk up to Bhaisikarka. The trail then leads through a jungle-like forest with small streams and the sound of birdsong. With a bit of luck we will spot langur monkeys. In Tadapani a fantastic view opens up onto Annapurna South (7,219 m), Hiunchuli (6,441 m) and Machapuchare (6,997 m). Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

  • Day 7: Trek to Dobato (3,426 m) – 4–5 hours of hiking, approx. 7 km / +800 m / –0 m

The route leads deep into a fairy-tale-like rhododendron forest. Between March and April the slopes bloom in vivid colours. Today’s stage is shaped by many ascents and descents, but is pleasant to walk. In Dobato a fascinating mountain view awaits us.
Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

  • Day 8: Sunrise at the Muldai viewpoint (3,637 m) and trek to Ghorepani (2,210 m) – 6–7 hours of hiking, approx. 12 km / +450 m / –1,650 m

Before sunrise we ascend for about 45 minutes to the Muldai viewpoint. From here we enjoy views of more than 25 summits, including the Annapurna Range, the Dhaulagiri Range, Nilgiri (7,061 m) and Lamjung Himal (6,983 m). After the descent and breakfast we hike over the Deurali Pass (3,150 m) to Ghorepani. Along the way there are magnificent views of Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Gurja Himal (7,193 m), Annapurna II (7,937 m), Manaslu (8,156 m), Himal Chuli (7,893 m) and Machapuchare (6,997 m). Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

  • Day 9: Ascent to Poon Hill (3,210 m) and trek to Tinkhedhunga (1,520 m) – 6 hours of hiking, approx. 11 km / +500 m / –1,200 m

An early ascent to the famous Poon Hill viewpoint (3,210 m). The views of the Dhaulagiri range, the Annapurna massif and the deepest gorge on earth, the Kali Gandaki valley, are spectacular. Afterwards we hike downhill to Tinkhedhunga. Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

  • Day 10: Trek to Birethanti (1,025 m) and drive to Pokhara (822 m) – 3 hours of hiking, approx. 8 km / –500 m, 2 hours of driving

We first follow a flat, pleasant path through small villages and rice fields towards Birethanti (1,025 m). Along the way we again enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding ranges of hills and can watch the lively activity in the villages. After about three hours we reach Birethanti, where our vehicle is already waiting. From here we drive back to Pokhara (822 m) in about two hours. The afternoon is at your leisure — ideal for relaxing by Phewa Lake, strolling through the lively streets of Lakeside or enjoying a leisurely dinner with a view of the lake. Overnight at Hotel Mount Kailash or an accommodation of equal category (B).

  • Day 11: Flight to Kathmandu (1,400 m), rest of the day at leisure – optional visit to Bhaktapur

Early in the morning we fly back to Kathmandu in about 35 minutes with wonderful views of the Himalaya. The rest of the day is free for relaxation, shopping in Thamel or an optional visit to Bhaktapur. Overnight at Kathmandu Guest House or an accommodation of equal category (B).

  • Day 12: Free time until departure – transfer to the airport and farewell

Free time until departure. Transfer to Kathmandu airport and flight back home. End of the trip (B).

We reserve the right to make changes to the programme due to special events, force majeure or weather conditions.

🌤️ Best Travel Time & Climate

The best time for trekking in Nepal is spring (March–May) and autumn (October–early December) with stable weather, clear views and ideal conditions.

Autumn: Pleasant temperatures, the best long-distance views, fresh greenery.

Spring: Mild climate and spectacular rhododendron blossom (especially March/April).

Winter (December–February): Off-season with clear views and few trekkers – ideal for those who can handle the cold.

Monsoon (June–September): Trekking only possible in dry regions such as Upper Mustang and Upper Dolpo.

🛡️ Insurance

Travel health insurance including rescue and recovery costs is essential for your own safety and a prerequisite for booking our trips. Taking out trip cancellation and trip interruption insurance is strongly recommended. Particularly cheap flights are usually not free to rebook or cancel. In addition, weather-related or health complications in Nepal may make it necessary to cut a trip short.

We have asked ERGO Reiseversicherung to put together various coverage packages for you. You can book the right travel health insurance at www.reiseversicherung.de .
