Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the hotel at Diani Beach
Arrival at Moi Airport and transfer to your hotel. After your arrival you can settle in at the lodge and relax. The lodge offers a picturesque setting and a wide range of amenities for a pleasant stay. Perhaps enjoy a walk on the beach, relax at the pool or treat yourself to the spa. Dinner is served in one of the lodge’s restaurants, where you can enjoy a selection of delicious dishes. Overnight at the Leopard Beach Resort and Spa (B|D).
Day 2: Day in Diani Beach – relaxing on the beach
Another day is at your leisure at the Severin Sea Lodge. You can relax on the beach, try out water sports activities, take part in organised excursions or simply enjoy the lodge’s amenities. Take the time to explore the surroundings, visit local shops or discover the cultural sights nearby. In the evening another delicious dinner awaits you before you retire to your cosy room. Overnight at the Leopard Beach Resort and Spa (B|D).
Day 3: Drive to Tsavo East National Park – game drive
After breakfast we set off for Tsavo East National Park, where you will have the chance to observe the fascinating elephants that cover themselves in red sand to shield against the sun. Tsavo East, Kenya’s largest national park, was founded in April 1948 and later divided into east and west for administrative reasons. The parks are crossed by the Nairobi–Mombasa road and the Nairobi–Mombasa railway. Originally used as a hunting ground by the Waliangulu and Kamba tribes, the park gained sad fame during the construction of the railway bridge over the Tsavo River, when man-eating lions killed more than 130 workers before they were brought down by Col. J. H. Patterson. After checking into the hotel we will go on a game drive until the late afternoon. Overnight at the Ngutuni Lodge standard room or an accommodation of equal category (B|L|D).
Day 4: Game drive in Tsavo East – red elephants
On the second day in Tsavo East we have the opportunity to take part in a morning game drive, where we have good chances of observing animals on the hunt. We can explore the wilderness on wildlife observation tours through the thornbush savannah or relax at our accommodation and watch the animals at the waterhole. After dinner we set off on an exciting night game drive, looking for reflective eyes in the bush with a headlamp. After these surely impressive safari experiences, we can sit on the terrace and listen to the night-time sounds of the savannah. Overnight at the Ngutuni Lodge standard room or an accommodation of equal category (B|L|D).
Day 5: Drive to Tsavo West – game drive
We drive to Tsavo West National Park. This park is one of the best-known national parks in Kenya and is part of the larger Tsavo National Park, which is divided into Tsavo East and Tsavo West. Tsavo West National Park is known for its varied landscape, which ranges from volcanic formations to hills, plains, rivers and waterholes. The park is home to various animal species such as elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, leopards and a wide variety of bird species. Particularly impressive is Mzima Springs, a source that offers crystal-clear water and is a popular spot for watching hippos and crocodiles. Other attractions in Tsavo West National Park include the Shetani Lava Flow, the Chaimu Crater, the Roaring Rocks and the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, a protected area for endangered black rhinos. Day 6: Drive to Mombasa South – relaxing at Diani Beach
On the sixth day we begin with a relaxed breakfast at our lodge. Afterwards we say goodbye to the lodge and slowly begin our return journey to Mombasa. The roughly 150-km drive takes us back to the coast. On arrival we are taken to the beach hotel of our choice in Mombasa, where we can reflect on our safari experiences and relax on the beach. Overnight at the Leopard Beach Resort and Spa (B|D).
Day 7: Mombasa South – relaxing by the sea
Relaxation by the sea. Diani Beach is a breathtakingly beautiful stretch of coast on Kenya’s southern coast, known for its dazzling white sandy beaches and the clear turquoise water of the Indian Ocean. The beach extends over several kilometres and is lined with lush tropical vegetation, providing a picturesque backdrop for visitors. The beaches are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and diving, as the water is warm and inviting and offers a rich underwater world to explore. Water sports such as kitesurfing and windsurfing are also popular.
Away from the beach there are also a number of sights and activities in the surroundings of Diani Beach, including excursions to nearby nature reserves such as Shimba Hills National Park or to historic sites like Fort Jesus in Mombasa. Safaris and beach days
Safaris in Kenya are nature experiences. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, and driving times may vary depending on road and weather conditions. For clothing we recommend natural-coloured items.
Safaris are conducted in pop-up jeeps with a maximum of 6 people per vehicle. German-speaking guided tours are available for a surcharge and subject to availability.
Popular safari regions include the Masai Mara National Reserve, Amboseli National Park, Tsavo East National Park, Tsavo West National Park, Samburu National Reserve as well as Meru National Park. There are also other smaller parks such as Lake Nakuru National Park, Lake Naivasha and Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
Beach days on the coast, for example at Diani Beach, are planned as free time for relaxation. Excursions and activities are usually optional and depend on weather, tides and local conditions.

🏥 Health & Vaccinations
For travellers from Europe, there are currently no mandatory vaccinations for direct entry into Kenya (as of November 2025). It is recommended to check your protection against diphtheria, polio and tetanus, and to consider vaccinations against hepatitis A and B.
A yellow fever vaccination is not required for direct entry from Europe, but it is recommended. For travel between Tanzania and Kenya, a yellow fever vaccination is required. Travellers from yellow fever endemic areas must in all cases present a valid proof of vaccination (at least 10 days old).

📝 Visa & Entry
For travel to Kenya, an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) has been required since 2024, replacing the classic visa. The eTA costs approximately 40 USD (including service fees) and is applied for online at www.etakenya.go.ke/de. The application should be submitted at least one week before departure.
Once approved, the eTA is valid for 90 days. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry and have two blank pages. On arrival, you must present a printed eTA, passport and return ticket.
🌤️ Best Travel Time & Climate
With the exception of the months from April to mid-June, Kenya offers good travel conditions all year round.
The climate ranges from hot and humid on the coast to moderate conditions in the highlands. The year is shaped by two rainy seasons, the long rains from April to mid-June and the short rains from November to December. The drier periods are particularly well suited for safaris, wildlife viewing and beach holidays, as the weather is stable and there are fewer mosquitoes.
🛡️ Insurance
Travel health insurance including rescue and recovery costs is a prerequisite for participating in our tours. Taking out trip interruption and trip cancellation insurance is strongly recommended, particularly in view of possible flight costs as well as unforeseeable events such as weather-related or health-related reasons.
We recommend insurance policies from ERGO Reiseversicherung (www.reiseversicherung.de) for travellers resident in Germany and Austria. Travellers from other countries are kindly asked to take out insurance through a provider in their home country.
The choice of insurance provider is the responsibility of the traveller.
