Detailed itinerary

• Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m) – introduction to the trip & welcome dinner

  After arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m) you are picked up at the airport and taken to the hotel. In the late afternoon we will discuss the upcoming trip, and in the evening you are warmly invited to the welcome dinner. Even from the hotel, on a clear day, you can already see the hills around the Kathmandu Valley. Overnight at the Hotel Kathmandu Guest House or an accommodation of similar category (D).

• Day 2: Discovering Kathmandu – city walk & free time (approx. 4–5 km, 4 hrs)

  We visit the Hindu Pashupatinath temple, the Swayambhunath Stupa, the great Boudhanath Stupa and Durbar Square. Kathmandu unites Hindu and Buddhist culture like hardly any other city. With good long-range visibility you can already see the first peaks of the Langtang range (over 7,000m) on the horizon. • Day 3: Drive Kathmandu – Jagat (1,300m) – 8 to 9 hours of driving

  We leave Kathmandu and follow the Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers in the direction of Jagat. Along the way we pass subtropical landscapes and rice terraces. During the drive, the first views of Ganesh Himal (7,422m) and Manaslu (8,163m) appear. Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

• Day 4: Trek Jagat – Dharapani (1,860m) – 5–6 hrs | approx. 15 km, +560 m / –0 m

  The path leads via Chamje and a long suspension bridge to Tal with its waterfalls. We then climb steadily up to Dharapani. Along the way we can already catch a glimpse of Annapurna II (7,937m) in the distance. Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

  

  

• Day 5: Trek Dharapani – Koto (2,600m) – 3–4 hrs | approx. 10 km, +740 m / –0 m

  We pass through Tibetan and Gurung villages, passing Bagarchhap and Timang. In the afternoon we reach Koto. Here an impressive panorama opens up: Manaslu (8,163m), Lamjung Himal (6,983m) and Annapurna II (7,937m). Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

• Day 6: Trek Koto – Meta (3,570m) – 7–8 hrs | approx. 17 km, +970 m / –0 m

  We follow the Soti Khola through forests, gorges and waterfalls to Dharmasala, then climb steeply up to Meta. From here we have a magnificent view of Annapurna II (7,937m) and Lamjung Himal (6,983m). The landscape changes noticeably toward the barren high plateau. Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

• Day 7: Trek Meta – Phu (3,900m) – 7 hrs | approx. 16 km, +330 m / –0 m

  The route leads through deep gorges, past chortens and prayer walls, all the way into remote Phu. Along the way, Kang Guru (6,981m) and parts of the Annapurna massif are repeatedly visible. Arrival in Phu feels like a journey back in time to a centuries-old Tibetan village. Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

• Day 8: Acclimatisation in Phu – optional Himlung base camp (4,920m) – 6–7 hrs | approx. 12 km, +1,020 m / –1,020 m

  Optional ascent to the base camp of Himlung Himal (7,126m). Alongside Himlung, Nemjung (7,140m) and Kang Guru (6,981m) also rise on the horizon. Back in Phu there is time for encounters with Tibetan culture, monastery visits and exploring the village. Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

• Day 9: Phu – Nar Phedi (3,490m) – 5–6 hrs | approx. 14 km, +0 m / –410 m

  We turn back toward Meta but branch off to Nar Phedi. Overnight at the monastery – a very authentic experience. In the surroundings, Lamjung Himal (6,983m) and Annapurna II (7,937m) come into view again. Overnight at the Nar Phedi monastery (B|L|D).

  

  

• Day 10: Nar Phedi – Nar (4,100m) – 6–7 hrs | approx. 13 km, +610 m / –0 m

  We cross suspension bridges and climb alongside mani walls and chortens up to the village of Nar. From Nar you enjoy an excellent view of Pisang Peak (6,091m). Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

• Day 11: Nar – Kang La (5,320m) – Ngawal (3,660m) – 8 hrs | approx. 18 km, +1,220 m / –1,660 m

  Today we set off early, because a demanding day lies ahead of us. The ascent leads us up to the Kang La pass (5,320m). Once at the top, incomparable views open up across the entire Annapurna massif; Annapurna II (7,937m), Tilicho Peak (7,134m) and Gangapurna (7,455m) rise majestically before us. After that comes the steep descent down to Ngawal. Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

• Day 12: Ngawal – Upper Pisang (3,300m) – 6 hrs | approx. 14 km, +0 m / –360 m

  The trail leads through alpine meadows and the village of Braga with its monastery. Above us tower several giants at once: Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna III (7,555m), Annapurna IV (7,525m), Gangapurna (7,455m) and Tilicho Peak (7,134m). Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

  

  

• Day 13: Upper Pisang – Dharapani (1,960m) – 6 hrs | approx. 15 km, +0 m / –1,340 m

  A long descent takes us back into the greener valley. Once again we are accompanied by views of the Annapurnas and Manaslu (8,163m) in the distance. Overnight at a tea house lodge (B|L|D).

• Day 14: Drive Dharapani – Bandipur (1,030m) – 6 hrs of driving

  Drive to Besisahar and on to Bandipur, a beautifully preserved Newari town with traditional architecture and views of the Himalayan range. On a clear day, Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna (8,091m) and Manaslu (8,163m) are visible. Overnight at the Old Inn or an accommodation of similar category (B).

• Day 15: Drive Bandipur – Kathmandu (1,400m) – approx. 5 hrs of driving

  After a final breakfast in the quiet mountain town of Bandipur we say goodbye to the tranquil atmosphere of the Newari houses and the sweeping views into the valley. The drive back to Kathmandu takes us through green ranges of hills, past rice terraces, small villages and the Marsyangdi River. With clear visibility we are once again accompanied by impressive panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, including Manaslu (8,163m) and the Annapurna chain (over 8,000m). In the early afternoon we reach the capital. After checking in at the hotel, the rest of the day is at your leisure – ideal for last-minute shopping in the lively Thamel district, strolling through the alleys of the Old Town or simply letting the impressions of the trip sink in at a café. Overnight at the Hotel Kathmandu Guest House or an accommodation of similar category (B).

• Day 16: Departure – transfer to the airport

  Today it is time to say goodbye to Nepal. Depending on your departure time, you will be picked up from the hotel on time and taken to the airport in Kathmandu. Before that, perhaps there is still time for a last walk through the city or a tea in the hotel garden. With many impressions – the majestic Himalayan peaks, the rich culture of the royal cities and the warm encounters along the way – you begin the journey home (B).
